Clothes do not make the man, yet our perceptions of a person are seized up within mere seconds. It’s pretty hypocritical that we preach that it’s what is on the inside that matters yet make lasting judgements on people based on their outerwear. Plus we all know how the wrong set of clothing can make you feel worse or even the worst version of yourself. By not caring about your image we only do harm to ourselves, so why skip on learning to make the right style choices, when it’s not even that hard.
I feel like an oversized jacket in a combination with wide trousers instantly becomes the Power Suit. Which never fails to give me confidence and capability to do pretty much anything. I am not even sure what the magic is, but there is always something very sexy about a woman in power suiting.
It is also one of my favourite trends that made a huge comeback in 2019 and is definitely still a thing this season. Laid-back silhouettes and voluminous luxe blazers (paired with wide-leg trousers and fluid skirts) are leading the way. All you have to do is pick what works the best for you.
The classic version would be to simply wear a suit found in a men’s section (we all know by now that’s my favourite section to shop, especially when thrifting!) and style it with a slinky top. However, this time I wanted to add a bit more elegance and flow, so I paired this men’s blazer with Mango trousers I had for years. To finish off my look, I layered a little black dress from Femme Luxe Finery, which gave the whole outfit a bit more shape. It’s not an everyday choice for me, but once in a while I tend to style trousers and dresses together, especially when I want a look to stand out. Well and also, when winter hits the country and keeping your legs bare is not an option anymore.
