I’m all about being sexy.
I have never planned to write a post about it, for me that is what comes naturally without a saying, yet I feel like so many of us, both men and women, girls and boys, are still afraid to be confident with their sexuality. Let alone dress sexy and keep their chin up while doing so.
At the same time, I’m not the one who’s telling that only by showing your skin you can look hot. Absolutely not. In fact, if you feel your best covered in layers and layers of clothing – go for it! My point is, it shouldn’t take courage or extra confidence to dress sexy and maybe show a little bit of skin and shape here and there too. Why not, after all. It’s all about the balance.
Quite often I am called sexy (by men and women) and also, very often I get asked, how I manage to look sexy and still keep it classy. Because that is the actual end goal – look and feel appropriate, no matter what are you wearing. Not that I think about it when I put my outfits together, but I instinctively follow a few rules when I dress up. I did my best to structurize it for you and came up with the top four:
Listen to your mother. She knows the best. Everyone heard this one: if you’re showing your legs, cover up the upper-body a bit more. And vice versa. Boring, I know, but that actually works. It goes from one generation to the other and is relevant to this day for a reason. The reason being that it’s a clever way to dress up.
Add a masculine touch. As I said, it’s all about the balance balance balance. Adding more androgynous pieces to your sexy girly outfit will save the day without a doubt. It can either be structured blazer from a menswear section or just an oversized jacket – pick what suits you more. Pairing your clothes in such a way will also make the overall look more interesting. Try to opt for something unexpected and surprise yourself once in a while. It’s a lot of fun!
Harness the power of accessories. Like the most delicate accessories will make your boyfriend’s suit look super feminine on you, bulky and chunky details will balance out your sexy and on-the-edge-naughty outfit. In this look, in particular, it would be the pair of sunglasses I’m wearing. A men’s watch or a pair of combat boots would do the exact same job.
Learn from the French girls. That’s the part where I would say, confidence and feeling great in what you wear is an overall key. The classic rule is: no one will think you’ve crossed the line if you don’t feel like you did. Camille Charriere and Jeanne Damas are both great examples to learn from. Taking pictures half-naked, going to a show wearing almost nothing – yet no one would ever call them vulgar. With such an attitude, you can easily break all the rules and get away with it.
Here I’m wearing a mini dress from Femme Luxe Finery, which definitely is a risky piece of clothing to pull off. Bright, tight, short – all things you might be avoiding just because you’re afraid to cross that fine line. Try to stick to the pointers above and give it a go instead. You might be amazed by how empowering it feels to dress sexy. Celebrate your true self – everyone around will sense that.
