There is a theory, that it takes 21 days to form or break a habit and 90 days to create a lifestyle. Well, it took me exactly 2 seconds to get into the habit of using jade roller every single morning. I can proudly say, and I’m not even kidding, that since 21st February, I haven’t missed a day. Today is 18th June, which makes it almost four months. That’s how good this beauty tool is. Of course, the actual results can be seen only after continued daily use, however, massaging your face with a jade roller can instantly relieve tension by running it along your brows and jawline. It simply feels amazing.
I have no doubts that you have already seen it millions of times all around social media platforms – it has become a hit tool since 2017. These rollers look great in pictures, so, surely, who would miss the opportunity to put something that pretty on their feed. However, there are many more beautiful tools around my house (like the spatula I use for my porridge daily) and I don’t rush to write a whole blog post about any of them. Jade Roller is much more than a pretty thing you roll on your face.
– Even though the popularity of jade rollers grew massively only over the past couple of years, they’ve been a staple in Chinese skincare routines since the 7th century, and are believed to have healing and protective properties. The handheld massagers are usually dual-ended with two jade stone heads that allegedly boost blood circulation, reduce swelling, and help your skincare products penetrate deeper. Basically, they’re supposed to be a quick, easy cure for daily skincare struggles like dark under-eye circles and puffiness from fatigue. The increase in circulation can also help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. That’s right, only with one tool, you can achieve all these results. That’s why I don’t stop using it since I got it. I literally carry it with me on every trip, no matter if it’s a weekend getaway or a three-week stay somewhere abroad.
The most well-known benefit of using a jade roller is that it helps to reduce puffiness and inflammation in the face due to the stagnation of the lymphatic system. A jade roller can help to stimulate the lymphatic system, which in turn reduces inflammation and puffiness. Other benefits include brightening complexions, tightening pores (especially if you put it in the fridge for a few minutes before using), helping to reduce the appearance of fine lines, and increasing blood circulation, just to name a few.
– My favourite way to use it is in the morning, just after the shower, before I apply any of the skincare products. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but even after the first use, I noticed, that moisturiser runs through the skin much smoother. Using it is more than simple. Just work around your facial contours. Start at the center of the face under the eyes and cheekbones and move out towards the hairline. Next, move down towards the jawbone, starting at the center of the chin and moving out towards the bottom of the ear. Finish by rolling down the sides of the neck towards the center of the clavicle. This can help send all the toxins built up in the face towards the center of the body where it can be detoxified and processed.
– In addition to all this, don’t forget to clean your jade roller. The last thing you want is spreading bacteria back onto your skin. A weekly cleanse is considered just fine, yet if you have acne or other skin issues like I do, make sure you take good care of it after each use. Simply wash it with a gentle soap and pat dry after.
If you own a jade roller yet, go treat yourself. What you get for your money is unbelievable. Since it has become that popular, I don’t think you’ll have any problems with purchasing it. However, be aware that some sellers offer much cheaper versions made of who knows what. You certainly want it to be made out of natural jade or quartz, as these stones have healing properties already. Mine is from Basa Shop – a very trustworthy place to shop.
Also, a bonus off topic hint! If you’re wondering what is this marvellous marble background in the pictures, check out my friend’s brand Geometrika – you’ll find all kind of handmade marble trays.
